Silver Cord Program

*Direct all Silver Cord inquiries to Mr. Hotek (hotekm@bfschools.org)

The purpose of the Bondurant-Farrar Silver Cord Program is to encourage students to make contributions to their community through service, to recognize and reward volunteerism. Students will not only benefit the community, but will develop their own leadership and citizenship skills. This is a self-directed program. The student is responsible for turning in all of their hours.

Seniors who have completed a minimum of 200 hours of approved volunteer service during their four years at Bondurant-Farrar High School will be awarded a Silver Cord to be worn at graduation and will be recognized at Senior Award Night.

While it is suggested that students complete a minimum of 50 hours of approved service activities per year to reach the 200 total hours, students may accumulate their 200 hours in varying amounts during their four years of high school.

The Silver Cord Advisor will monitor submitted hours and supervisor verifications. It is the sole responsibility of the student to maintain and review their individual total hours via the link in blue. All hours should be turned in within 6 months of service or will not be considered.

National Honor Society hours will count toward Silver Cord totals.

Hours begin accumulation in summer after completion of 8th grade
